Wie bereits im Juli berichtet, wird Filmlegende John Carpenter in den kommenden Wochen mit dem One-Shot „Joker: Year Of The Villain“ #1 sein Autorendebüt bei DC Comics feiern.
Zu diesem Special gesellt sich nun eine weitere Legende, welche ein extra Variant Cover anfertigen wird: Brian Bolland.
Es gibt wohl mittlerweile kaum einen prägnanteren Joker-Zeichner als „Batman: The Killing Joke“ Co-Schöpfer Bolland, der in den 1980ern zusammen mit Autor Alan Moore einen Meilenstein des Superheldencomics in die Welt setzte.
Der Comic ist als One-Shot angelegt und somit nur eine Ausgabe umfassen und sich dabei vollends auf den Clownprinzen des Verbrechens konzentrieren. Für Carpenter selbst stellt der Joker den „besten Villain im Comicmedium“ dar, weshalb er sehr stolz sei, sich für dieses Projekt begeistern zu dürfen.
Der Verlag beschreibt das One-Shot wie folgt:
Now a human-alien hybrid, Lex Luthor has made his appeal to the world, asking its citizens to embrace doom and give in once and for all to evil, humanity’s true nature.
In exchange, he will grant them the tools to ascend to their ultimate selves. While some DC villains (and heroes) are willing to hear what “Apex Lex” has to offer, the Clown Prince of Crime isn’t going to wait around until Lex gets to him.
This puts The Joker on a mission to get his swagger back in a world gone bad by out-badding everyone else, proving that the greatest evil is always the one that leaves them laughing.
„The Joker: Year of the Villain“ #1 soll auf insgesamt 40 Seiten angelegt sein und am 09. Oktober für den US-Markt erscheinen.
Aller Voraussicht nach, wird Panini Comics sich im kommenden Jahr an eine Veröffentlichung von DCs „Year of the Villain“ Stoys wagen, wobei es sehr wahrscheinlich ist, dass Carpenters One-Shot auch hier gebracht werden wird.
