Mit „The Trial of Magneto“ startet im August 2021 eine neue X-Men-Serie für den US-Markt, welche direkt aus dem im kommenden Monat anstehenden X-Event der „Hellfire Gala“ entstehen wird.
Übernommen wird die Reihe von Autorin Leah Williams, welche gleichzeitig ihre bisherige Reihe „X-Factor“ offiziell beenden wird. „X-Factor“ #10 soll die letzte Ausgabe sein.
Williams wird für „The Trial of Magneto“ von Zeichner Lucas Werneck unterstützt. Wie anfänglich spekuliert, wird demnach nicht John Romita Jr. als Zeichner beteiligt sein, der vorab ein Promo-Artwork zur neuen Serie anfertigte. Der Comic soll als Mini-Serie insgesamt 5 Ausgaben umfassen.
Bei „The Trial of Magneto“ soll es sich vorrangig um einen Crime-Comic handeln, welcher einen grauenvollen Mord im Rahmen der Hellfire Gala aufklären soll. Wer als Hauptverdächtiger gilt, dürfte schnell auszumachen sein.
„X-Men: The Trial of Magneto“ #1 (of 5) soll am 18. August 2021 für den US-Markt erscheinen. Das Cover stammt von Valerio Schiti.
Marvel beschreibt den Titel wie folgt:
